The Big News, Bad News, and Best News

The Gospel of Jesus Christ is the best news you will ever hear!

Ask us about the free gift of God’s grace!

1. The BIG News

The best news on earth starts with the first sentence in the Bible: In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. (Genesis 1:1)

Because He created you, God deserves to be honored by you: Our Lord and God, You are worthy to receive glory and honor and power, because You have created all things, and because of Your will they exist and were created. (Revelation 4:11)

Not only does He deserve your honor and glory, but He demands your obedience. For it is written, Be holy, because I am holy. (1 Peter 1:16)

God deserves honor and demands holiness because He is good and knows what is best for His creation. Yahweh is a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger and rich in faithful love and truth…forgiving wrongdoing…But He will not leave the guilty unpunished. (Exodus 34:6-7)

2. The BAD News

God is compassionate and gracious and willing to forgive wrongdoing but He will not leave the guilty unpunished. (Exodus 34:7)

The bad news is that we are all guilty. We have all dishonored and disobeyed God. The Bible calls this sin. As it is written: There is no one righteous, not even one…all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:10,23)

Humanity has sinned since “the beginning”. Adam and Eve disobeyed God in the Garden of Eden and we have been separated from God ever since. So the Lord God sent him away from the garden of Eden to work the ground from which he was taken. (Genesis 3:23)

Our sin deserves an eternal death penalty. He destroys all the wicked; (Psalm 145:20) the wages of sin is death; (Romans 6:23) And they will go away into eternal punishment… (Matthew 25:46)

3. The BEST News

We are guilty of sin and deserve death, but God loved the world in this way: He gave His One and Only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16)

Jesus is God’s Son! He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. And even though all things have been created through him and for him (Colossians 1:15-16), Jesus humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death—even to death on a cross. (Philippians 2:8)

God made the One who did not know sin to be sin for us, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. (2 Corinthians 5:21)

Jesus took our sins to the cross, bled, died, and was buried. But on the third day, Jesus rose again! He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures. (1 Corinthians 15:4) Jesus’ resurrection proves that He is the eternal Son of God who takes away the sins of the world.

What Now?

Jesus says we must repent and believe in the good news! (Mark 1:15) If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. We are saved, not by what we’ve done, but by what HE has done and THAT is truly the best news you will ever read!

If you truly repent and believe in Jesus, then this promise is true for you: God Has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. The one who has the Son has life. The one who doesn’t have the Son of God does not have life. (1 John 5:11-12)
