Happy New Year!! Join Our 5 Day Bible Reading Challenge Today

BRC James

January 1-5, 2016

The new year offers an opportunity to start fresh. Many seek to improve their health, relationships, finances, and hopefully their relationship with God.

Fitness, family, and financial goals are good, but even more important is your relationship with God. I want to encourage you to set two spiritual goals in your life: pray relentlessly and absorb God’s Word daily.

Read James Every Day for Five Days

To get started, I’m challenging you to read James every day for the next five days.

Here’s what that would look like:

  • Friday, January 1 – Read James 1,2,3,4,5
  • Saturday, January 2 – Read James 1,2,3,4,5
  • Sunday, January 3 – Read James 1,2,3,4,5
  • Monday, January 4 – Read James 1,2,3,4,5
  • Tuesday, January 5 – Read James 1,2,3,4,5

5 Reasons To Accept This Challenge

  1. Reading through an entire book of the Bible in one sitting helps you get the total flow of the author’s thought.
  2. Reading the same thing over and over for several days helps you to absorb and understand the book in a deeper way.
  3. Setting a five day goal is more attainable than a 365 day goal.
  4. Do you want more joy, wisdom, faith, humility, self-control, and a more consistent prayer life? Read James!
  5. Finally, after five days of reading and absorbing God’s Word you are going to want more.

5 Ways To Go Deeper

  • Begin by praying that the Lord would teach you and keep you focused on His Word as you read.
  • Pray as you go along. There may be something that you read that prompts you to pray for yourself or for others in your life.
  • Underline key verses and make notes in the margin next to verses you have questions about.
  • Make it social. Ask a friend to meet with you sometime in the next 5 days to discuss what you are learning and to hold you accountable.
  • Make it social media. Share your favorite verse on Facebook to encourage your friends. Some Bible apps even have a way of creating an image out of a Bible verse.
